All about me

Sean 1st bdae
Thursday, November 15, 2007

I ate a lot today for Sean's party. My landlord's son. I find this very creative. Satay sticks with chicken seaweed, sotong ball or mush mallow on pineapple.

Sean's cake is very nice too.

He is good looking...

And greedy for food too...

Last day in Metro Sengkang
Wednesday, November 14, 2007

We mostly went to the different departments and took lots of pictures with the metro staffs.

We found out something interesting at the men's wear department. Guys not only have one type of bikini, and they have special apartment - for the gay! ( Read the wording carefully)

(For the male who dares to be different)

Look, all the Levi's jeans! Some people will go crazy when they see it.

We also made an appreciation card for the staffs and they seems to like it. Well, Yu Bin and I are proud of our work, we had spent lots of time to do it.

We even took photo with the branch manager =)

Second day of my work attachment
Tuesday, November 13, 2007

TIRED is the only word I can say. Have left home since 7.30am and reach home only at 10pm. Luckily my aunt can drive me to and fro to compass point, if not I would have spent 3hrs just for traveling on top of the working hours.

We visited the general store, cashier, toy, children and linen department today. The most interesting would be the cashier and toys department. We always say that we have to improve our service standard by smiling more and saying thank you to the customers. It's time to educate the shoppers too! Imagine you greeting your customer w/o any respond from them, I think it is better to talk to the wall, at least we can hear the echo from the wall......

My first day of work attachment !
Monday, November 12, 2007

We were told to report to Ngee Ann City at Tower A for our work shadowing in Metro. After being briefed by Litz (Human Resource Training Manager), the six of us were being distributed to Metro causeway point in Woodland, Paragon in Orchard and Compass point in Sengkang respectively. Yu Bin and I is the "luckiest" and we got to go to the Sengkang outlet. Well, we took 1hr+ just to reach home.

(They have mirrors everywhere to check for images)

We learn how to gift wrap and fold doggie bag

Most of the Metro staffs are very friendly and they are very willing to teach us what they know. We were first being attach to the customer service association. Not only did they need to handle all incoming telephone calls and channel calls to requested parties; they also have to handle customer enquiry, request for exchanges, returns and refunds; sales of gift vouchers; operate a cash register terminal to handle all cash and credit sales transactions and bag customer purchases; and handle requests for GST rebates. To do so many things at one time, I think even have octopus' hands also cannot finish the job. The interesting part is that they can even have a short meeting at a staircase! What I can only say is that no job is easy. Nothing is easy.

Noon in Mustafa shopping centre
Sunday, November 11, 2007

I went to Mustafa shopping centre to get some rupees to be used for India trip on the 22 Nov. I took a long time before deciding to get 10 000 rupees which is about $385. I wont spend all of it of course, just in case I really want to buy a lot of things in India, haha... Embarrassingly, I mistook rupees for rupiah. Rupees is the currency for India while Rupiah is the currency for Indonesia (oops!)

Ultimately, i got to walk around the shopping centre and came across this poster which i find it quite meaningful. The title is 《前路》 and it goes : 船到桥头自然直,车到山前必有路。This apply to the situation when everything needed to been done have been done but we are still worry about the problem. We kept thinking about the possible errors that might occur and the thoughts roll on just like a snowball which got bigger in the end... Then it turn out to be fine or not as bad as what we have thought. Thus i would like to share this phrases with those friends who find it applicable to them.

Trip to Japan, Tokyo
Saturday, November 10, 2007

I went to Japan from 28th Oct till 4th Nov with my family. It was really an eye opener for me! The visa to Japan for Malaysian is the toughest to get, I still need to get a school letter, my mum's bank account, her occupation, my birth cert and etc... On top of that, i need to sacrifice my weekend in S'pore. Definitely I need to be excited.
(Clockwise: me, mum, ah gong, ah mah, aunt)

The first food we tried was Takoyaki with octopus inside. It is really nice!

Then there are lots of vending machines, with all kinds of drink. I think it is a good idea cuz it is more hygienic and it can save a lot of manpower. We should learn from them in this case. The second thing we should learn from them will be having a clean and an advanced technology in the toilet facilities. They have technology which allow you to wash your butt, to clean or heat up the toilet seat during winter, and flushing sound to cover whatever unpleasant sound when you do your business. Toilet is a place where we must visit at least once a day, so why not make it a more pleasant place to be in?

Lastly, I have observed that their service attitude is fantastic. They would smile naturally and say "Arigato" to each and every of their costumer regardless of their age, gender, size and look! They will also acknowledge you once you enter their shop. They will not pull a long face even when you don't buy anything from them. For this, I salute to them!

We also took picture with the Geisha, cool right? You can see that my grandfather is standing at the background and refused to take picture with us. I found out that he thought the Geisha looks like a ghost and would haunt him after that! Haha...
Their scenery was beautiful too.

The fantastic part is Mount Fuji. The tallest mountain in Japan with the height of 3773m. Isnt it fantastic to see Mt Fuji from your window when you woke up in the morning?
Their food was sumptuous too. Usually we will eat Udong and rice with Teriyaki and miso soup. The most food we ate in Japan was ice-cream! Their ice-cream is very soft and with many different taste like green tea and chestnut. Yummy...
I really enjoyed my trip this time and would keep all this beautiful memory in my mind =)
